Behavioral Framework – the leading provider of ABA therapy to children diagnosed with autism in the DMV area – is looking for an experienced Billing Manager!
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Billing Manager to join our revenue cycle leadership team. In this role, you will lead day-to-day billing operations while serving as the right hand to our current Billing team leader. This is a unique opportunity to step into a fast-paced, multi-state environment and gain tremendous experience under an expert mentor, while helping us build a world-class billing function.
You’ll manage and support a billing team composed of both local and offshore resources and will be accountable for timely and accurate claim submission, denial resolution, AR follow-up, monthly close, and payment posting. You'll also help operationalize systems improvements and partner closely with Finance, Intake, Authorizations, Credentialing and Clinical teams to drive performance.

Key Responsibilities
Billing Operations
- Ensure accurate and timely billing of all claims across commercial, Medicaid, and other payers
- Review and approve adjustment write-off requests
- Processing client and payer refund request
- Generate and distribute claim scrub reports to appropriate teams
- Review and analyze billing dashboard in EHR system to identify areas of improvement (claims submitted, claims denied, timely filing, rejections)
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming office mail
- Oversee and ensure monthly submission of client statements
- Oversee and ensure completion of monthly close
- Assist with preparation for annual audits
- Attend weekly meetings to review eligibility and verification report and address barriers
- Drive AR follow-up—both insurance and patient balances—with relentless follow-through
- Work insurance denials efficiently, escalate trends, and drive resolution strategies
- Oversee timely and accurate payment posting
- Oversee timely and accurate charge entry
- Maintain and optimize payer setups in the EHR and clearinghouse
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead a high-performance team of billing specialists, both in-house and offshore
- Train, coach, and hold the team accountable to daily, weekly, and monthly goals
- Effectively conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with team members to monitor development, outcomes, create relationship-building, motivate, and address barriers
- Foster a strong service-oriented culture—respond quickly to internal and external billing inquiries
- Work closely with Authorization, Intake and Clinical Ops to resolve issues at the source
- Support onboarding and integration of new markets or acquisitions into billing workflows
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Use reporting tools and EHR data to track KPIs (DSO, denial rate, aging buckets, etc.)
- Identify inefficiencies and work with the billing leader to implement scalable solutions
- Assist with creating SOPs and standardizing billing procedures across markets
- Help ensure our EHR system and workflows are aligned for accuracy and efficiency
- Remain updated on medical billing regulations to ensure compliance, accuracy, and avoid fines

Qualifications
- 5+ years of healthcare billing experience; ABA/behavioral health preferred
- Prior experience managing or leading billing teams (including offshore/vendor teams a plus)
- Strong understanding of payers, EDI workflows, denial management, and patient responsibility
- Experience with EHRs, clearinghouses, and Excel-based reporting (specify EHR if desired)
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset—ready to roll up your sleeves
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills; you set the tone for responsiveness
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and ownership is valued
- Excellent organizational skills, deadline-driven with excellent time management ability
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of regulations related to Medicaid and commercial insurance
