We are seeking an
Intake Specialist in Derwood, MD. The Intake Specialist with Medicaid Eligibility experience is responsible for performing the initial intake of clients, assessing eligibility for Medicaid and other public assistance programs, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of documentation. A non-exempt position responsible for new individuals and all functions keeping existing individuals current and in good standing.
Starting pay is $ 25.00/ per hour
Responsibilities
- Assure compliance with all eligibility requirements
- Assist with collecting all the necessary documentation for Medicaid redeterminations
- Manage the benefits and entitlements for all individuals receiving support and services, this includes SNAP benefits
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP benefits, applications, and certifications
- Assess client eligibility for Medicaid and other public assistance programs using established guidelines and systems.
- Assist clients in completing Medicaid applications, renewals, and documentation required for eligibility determination.
- Coordinate with case managers, social workers, and clinical staff to ensure accurate and efficient onboarding of clients.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits; collaborate with billing and eligibility teams as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid regulations, eligibility criteria, and changes in healthcare policies.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, explaining processes and advocating on their behalf when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.
- Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and performance improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of local and regional regulatory operations
- Knowledge and understanding of state regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of LTSS.
- Understanding and commitment to community-based support for people with disabilities
- Experience with intake and admissions
- Excellent time management skills
- Familiarity with Social Security and Medicaid
- Working Knowledge of ICD-10 codes
- Therap experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years’ experience preferably with a background in Admissions, Social Services, Administration and/or Public Relations.
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree preferred
