ssistant Director of our Homeless Street Outreach team in Montgomery County, based in Plymouth Meeting, PA. In this pivotal role, you'll partner closely with the program director to shape the daily operations and ensure our outreach efforts are responsive, human-centered, and effective. You'll lead and mentor a committed team in the field—coaching, leading team problem-solving, and providing the support they need to make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. From supervising staff and championing professional growth, to overseeing budgets and facilitating team development, you'll play a vital part in creating a community where no one is left behind. The Assistant Director of Homeless Street Outreach is a leader who collaborates and communicate effectively across multi-agency providers and within Access Services to bring positive outcomes for people we serve without housing.
Essential Responsibilities Of The Assistant Director
- Assist in the daily operation and management of the Homeless Street Outreach pro ram
- Directly supervise outreach workers
- Assist in the hiring and training of all new staff
- Oversee incoming referrals and note/documentation keeping process
- Support and educate all staff to ensure that program objectives are being met and the services provided support the needs of those being served
- Assist in implementing and monitoring the budget for the program
- Assist in facilitating weekly individual and group supervision and staff meetings
- Participate in program on-call work
- Support the director in shelter prioritization
- Participate in outreaches in the community when volume dictates and to support field training
- Work collaboratively with the director to ensure program continuity
- Operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner at all times as outlined in the agency Motor Vehicle Safety policy
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, and work scheduled overtime, or be available for unplanned overtime as necessary, to meet program needs.
Requirements
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with on call responsibilities on a rotating basis with members of the Homeless Outreach team
Education
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field (required); Master's degree (preferred)
Experience
- Two years of experience providing direct care to a vulnerable population (required)
- Three years of experience in a leadership position, including a progression of supervisory responsibilities (required)
- Experience of direct care working with individuals with housing instability/ homelessness AND prior knowledge and experience with housing and community development systems (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of basic concepts of therapeutic intervention
- Knowledge of pertinent community resources and facilities
- Ability to express ideas succinctly, both in writing and oral communication
- Ability to develop positive, creative and programmatic goals
- Skill in person centered planning and the ability to help individuals meet their plan objectives
- Skill in person centered team leadership
- Ability to plan, supervise, and direct the work of others
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county and state officials, individuals, their families, and the general public
- Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion in applying and interpreting laws, rules, and policies governing Access Services
- Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and the internet.
Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Work in standard office environment and routinely travel to offsite locations
- May require some physical lifting abilities as an employee who regularly provides direct care may need to provide assistance to others.
Benefits
Compensation:
- $47,000 - $48,000 with increases based on education and experience in the field
