- Location: West Hempstead (3 days/week), Long Island City (1 day/week) and Brooklyn (1 day/week) with some flexibility.
We are seeking a proactive and compassionate
Human Resource Associate to join our team and support our mission across multiple locations. In this vital role, you will serve as a primary point of contact for employees, providing in-person HR support, resolving day-to-day questions, managing leave of absence cases, troubleshooting HR related questions and inquiries and fostering a positive workplace environment.
This role is integral in maintaining a positive employee experience and ensuring smooth organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing timely and professional HR intake and support
- Manage day-to-day HR questions related to policies, benefits, employee relations, and other HR processes
- Administer and coordinate leave of absence (LOA) cases, such as FMLA, NYSPFL, STD, WC, personal leaves- ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Assist with reviewing and resolving employee concerns and issues, escalating complex matters as appropriate
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, and other employee lifecycle processes
- Conduct biweekly new hire orientation
- Help ensure HR practices are consistent across locations and align with organizational values
- Maintain and update employee records in HR databases and systems in accordance with legal and organizational requirements
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department as needed
- Handles multiple tasks assigned by supervisor, able to prioritize as needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in an HR support role or similar administrative position
- Knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Prior experience with managing or supporting leave of absence processes is strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable traveling between assigned work locations on a weekly basis
- Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company environment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Full time, regular business hours Monday through Friday, primary location is West Hempstead (3x a week) with one day at Long Island City and one day Brooklyn schools.
