We are seeking a Full Time, skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I (NP) to join our pediatric multidisciplinary healthcare team in Wall, NJ. This position is hybrid and
must be licensed in the state of both New Jersey & Pennsylvania.
Position Overview
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I (NP) to join our pediatric multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role focuses on the comprehensive care of children, adolescents and adults with complex neuropsychiatric and behavioral conditions. The NP will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients across the lifespan in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting, with a strong emphasis on psychopharmacology, diagnostic interpretation, medical co-occurring conditions and family-centered care.
What to expect as an Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I (NP):
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric and developmental assessments of children and adolescents presenting with neuropsychiatric symptoms.
- Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, Tourette syndrome, mood disorders, and behavioral dysregulation.
- Prescribe, titrate, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with evidence-based practice and current clinical guidelines.
- Assess for and manage side effects of psychotropic medications, including metabolic monitoring, neurologic status, and impact on development and functioning.
- Order, interpret, and integrate results from laboratory tests, neuroimaging, EEGs, genetic panels, and other diagnostic tools relevant to pediatric neuropsychiatric care.
- Collaborate with pediatric neurologists, developmental pediatricians, neuropsychologists, and therapists to ensure accurate diagnosis and integrated treatment planning.
- Educate patients and families about psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, medication regimens, potential side effects, and expected outcomes.
- Provide crisis evaluations as needed and assist in managing acute psychiatric emergencies, including risk assessments for self-harm or aggression.
- Coordinate care with schools, social services, and community-based providers to support holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system in compliance with institutional, state, and federal standards.
- Participate in clinical rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications, Education, And Experience
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in NJ and PA (or willing to obtain prior to starting)
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by ANCC.
- CDS / DEA licensure with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
- Pediatric experience or additional pediatric certifications preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Minimum of 1-2 years in a pediatric, psychiatric or outpatient setting preferred. New Grads Welcome
- Strong clinical background in psychopharmacology and interpreting relevant diagnostics across the life span
- Clinical skills in psychiatric assessments across the life span and pharmacologic management
- Ability to recognize and manage medication side effects and complications
- Ability to synthesize diagnostic data from labs, imaging, and neuropsychological reports.
- Compassionate communication and education skills tailored to children, adolescents, and families.
- Strong team collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary care environment.
- Competency with EMR systems and telehealth platforms.

Working Conditions And Physical Demands
- Primary setting in outpatient collaborative medical practice.
- Hybrid position requiring 2 days of in-person clinic hours and 2 days of Telehealth clinic hours
- Standard weekly schedule; no weekends or holidays
- This job operates in either a clinic or home environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer/tablet, phone, photocopier, filing cabinet, and printer.
- Ability to list 25lbs and perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include light-medium moving and extensive self-positioning.
