We are seeking Family Visitation Coach to join our team in our
Wilmington, DE, area.
Position Details
- Develop relationships with families to identify strengths and abilities in maintaining child safety, permanency, and well-being.
- Provide consistent support by maintaining frequent contact and responding promptly to family concerns within the first 30 days of involvement or as needed.
- Identify and locate family members by securing contact details, including addresses, phone numbers, and other relevant information; assist with preliminary background checks.
- Utilize Family Mapping and best practices to engage both maternal and paternal family members, ensuring active involvement from all possible support networks.
- Establish relationships with paternal family members, even in cases where a child’s mother reports no involvement.
- Participate in ongoing team meetings with county caseworkers and supervisors to discuss engagement efforts, full disclosure, and establish clear action steps.
- Coordinate and facilitate Family Engagement meetings and promote Family Group Decision Making (FGDM).
- Assist families and county agencies with concurrent planning and Family Finding efforts.
- Provide full disclosure about the child welfare system and support agencies in communicating system processes.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of relatives and home safety conditions, offering recommendations as needed.
- Serve as a permanency consultant by participating in Permanency Roundtable Meetings.
- Support county caseworkers by dedicating time to nurturing family relationships, gathering information to ensure child safety, and strengthening family connections.
- Promote family reunification by developing ongoing support networks and identifying backup relative placement options.
- Challenge negative perceptions of family members to highlight strengths within the family system.
- Collaborate with county caseworkers to offer multiple perspectives on family strengths and needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support engagement and permanency efforts.
