Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented
Contracts Specialist to support our behavioral health organization's contract lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare-related agreements, particularly in the behavioral health sector, and will ensure that all contracts meet regulatory, legal, and organizational standards. This role is crucial in supporting clinical and administrative operations by managing service agreements, provider contracts, payer agreements, and vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including provider agreements, payer contracts, business associate agreements (BAAs), and vendor/service contracts.
- Ensure all agreements comply with HIPAA, state and federal healthcare regulations, and organizational policies.
- Work closely with clinical, compliance, legal, finance, and administrative teams to understand contract requirements and support departmental goals.
- Maintain a centralized contract management system, track key dates (e.g., renewals, expirations), and provide timely notifications to stakeholders.
- Conduct risk assessments of contract terms and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support credentialing and onboarding processes by ensuring proper contracting of behavioral health providers.
- Assist in internal audits, contract reporting, and regulatory reviews related to contractual compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Law, or related field.
- 2–4 years of contract management experience in a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, behavioral health service models, Medicaid/Medicare contracting, and healthcare compliance.
- Experience working with managed care organizations, community mental health centers, or behavioral health networks preferred.
