Job Description:
We are seeking a
Behavioral Safety Support Specialist to provide one-on-one support to an individual with autism who has a history of significant aggression and behavioral challenges. This role requires a compassionate, confident, and physically capable professional who can ensure safety, build rapport, and implement behavior support strategies with consistency and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, hands-on support to an individual with autism in a home, community, or school setting.
- Implement individualized behavior support plans as designed by a clinical team.
- Maintain a safe environment using approved crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
- Monitor, track, and document behaviors and interventions accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, family members, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing supervision.
- Demonstrate strength, endurance, and stability to manage physical aspects of the role, including blocking techniques when necessary (training provided).
- Serve as a calm, consistent, and positive presence, even in challenging situations.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities, particularly with challenging behaviors.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and respond quickly and safely to behavioral incidents.
- Strong physical presence and the ability to safely assist with physical management protocols (e.g., CPI, Safety-Care, PCM—training provided or required).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in human services, psychology, or behavioral health a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to undergo background checks
